After Chuck rejected her last week, Blair can't help but throw herself at him. But despite advice from Dan on how to make it work - be unavoidable, says D, not hard to get - Chuck is not taking the bait. When that doesn't work, the heat is turned up even higher.
Blair's next move entails dressing up in lingerie and waiting for Chuck in Serena's bedroom. It comes close to working, but Chuck sees a text message she sent to Serena, in which S said to Blair "U R so bad!!!!!!!!!!" and B proclaimed that this going to be “so EZ.”
Upset, Chuck leaves. Foiled again, Waldorf!
After Blair's second disastrous attempt at seduction, she pours her heart out to Dan again, and this time he advises her to suck it up and just tell Chuck she loves him. She tells Chuck to meet her at Rufus' gallery - where there's an event - so she can do just that. Yay! It's gonna happen right?
Wrong. Vanessa takes that moment to tell Dan what Blair and Chuck did to her last week, so a pissed-off Dan remembers that he hates Blair and decides to undermine her, subtly implying that Chuck is only playing games with her and never to give into it. Man, the manipulations that occur on Gossip Girl!
When Serena hears what Dan pulled, though, she is pissed at him - because in spite of what they did to Vanessa, Serena believes this is about people who love each other. Having yet another change of heart, Dan chases down Chuck and admits what he did - that he talked Blair out of saying the three words.
Blair and Chuck meet up later and are actually open with each other. Chuck realizes that they're both unable to say “I love you,” not because it it's not true, but because they know that if they do, it will end this.
This being the chase. The game. They're Chuck and Blair. They are in love, but they are evil and thrive on this kind of them. People like them can't hold hands and go to the movies. They have to have the game.
They come to an understanding - the terms of which are not clearly defined, but we can use our imaginations, of course.
Throughout all of this, Serena and Dan are trying to be friends, which means that they're hanging out again and Dan has officially been dragged back into the drama that surrounds her - as we know from his "helping" Blair.
But their newfound friendship is going to get a little awkward now that she is making eyes at an artist who's having a show at Rufus' gallery.
The guy, Aaron Rose, almost immediately asks Serena out, but she tells him she's not dating at the moment. Clearly she doesn't want to hurt Dan. Aaron understands, but gives her a riddle and says that if she figures that out, then HE will agree to go out with HER. Now this is a guy with confidence.
Later, after the Blair-Chuck drama has blown up in Dan's face, Serena admits that she does want to go out with Aaron. He gives her his blessing, but he regrets it after Serena figures out the riddle - it is an inside joke from when she and Aaron went to summer camp together way back when!
Serena is excited about Aaron now, and ditches Dan to go find him, only to see him ride away with some other girl on the back of his motorcycle.
Then there's Little J.
Her new friend, model Agnes, convinces 15-year-old Jenny that she's way too good to waste her time working for a successful, established designer like Eleanor Waldorf - who is doing a good job at sponging off of J.
After Eleanor asks Jenny to use one of her own dresses for a major meeting with buyers - but makes J work all night to redo it in Eleanor's fabrics - Jenny has had enough and quits. Jenny even takes back the green dress that Serena accidentally wore on the runway a few weeks back.
Now officially on her own, Little J is going to have to become Big J real quick because there's no going back.
Having quit work, Jenny parties with Agnes and her 20-something friend who is supposedly a photographer. Things get a little out of hand as Jenny and Agnes end up dancing in their underwear before long.
In her defense, J did not seem comfortable even being there in the first place but she did allow herself to get roped in to the situation.
Enter Nate.
He's been crashing with the Humphreys as we know, and has taken a liking to Jenny. As a little sister or a love interest? That's hard to say.
Until he starts asking people at the gallery where she went, of course. When he hears she went out on her own and quit Eleanor's, he's worried and decides to follow Jenny and Agnes.
He shows up at the dude's apartment to get Jenny out of the situation. She is far from pleased to see him but ultimately decides to leave with him.
Almost out of nowhere, he and Jenny start making out on the street.
